MODERN HEART POISONS – STRESS – PACE AND HASTE (SPORT)
Even young people who participate in overstrenuous sporting activities can develop dilation of the heart or other heart trouble. Sadly, modern athletic competition no longer attaches importance to purity and style of performance but requires the athlete to give his all, and it is exactly this excessive speed measured in split seconds that is dangerous. The excesses will act like poison to the heart, particularly for those athletes who are not in constant training. More often than not the damage is permanent.
The shorter working week mentioned earlier is also detrimental to the heart, since the work must be done faster if the number of working days is reduced without a proportionate reduction in the workload. The heart would only benefit from such an arrangement if the former, more sensible pace of work could be maintained. If a shorter working week depends on increased speed to produce the same results, the health of employee and employer alike will suffer.
